i'm having a corneal scraping on tuesday. they will be placing a chemotherapy agent on my cornea. just wondering what the recovery time is on this?

Depends ? wide&deep: Depending on how wide and deep they have to do scraping, your recovery will depend how fast the healing takes place based on your risk factors. Usually young person with good healing ability, it should be fast. Most likely they may put bandage contact lens which will help faster healing. Also if they use amniotic membrane that mya also help.

hospital or not? my son was playing soccer and didn't notice there was a tree in front of him and he ran right into it. he got a scrape from his eye to the middle of his cheek should i take him to the hospital?

Hello. : Hello.  I am assuming that he did not have a loss of consciousness since it was not mentioned.   A person can have a mild concussion without loss of consciousness. If he has these symptoms he should be evaluated: feels dazed, blurred vision, nausea or vomiting, headache, confusion or  problems with short term memory. If he has eye pain, he could have a corneal abrasion.  Often a scrape doesn't require medical intervention, but if there is a laceration that might need suturing that would be different.
     So some specific reasons to go to the er would include: possible concussion; laceration that might need suturing; possible abrasion of his cornea, visual changes, if he needs more pain control than you can provide or if you don't believe you can clean out the wound adequately. When was his last tetanus shot? Take care.

You may obtain better vision from a gas permeable hard contact lens. Call your local opthalmologist and optometrist for more information.  If your current lenses don't work, then seek a second contact lens fitting elsewhere.
