what does "wo 49mm" mean on an orthodontic consult note? it is the last thing on a list of diagnoses and is a stand alone statement?

: You will have to ask that Orthodontist why he/she uses WO to mean. It could signify a wide-open upper to lower incisor measurement, the first initials of 2 skeletal landmarks, or whatever is meaningful to that Orthodontist. The office wold be happy to "translate for you."

Generally, doctors do not write notes such as work-excuse or school-excuse notes, or back-to-work or back-to-school notes, without an exam. That is because a doctor's note is his written, signed, professional opinion, on whether a patient can or cannot do a particular activity. An in-person exam gives confidence to the doctor's opinion.

Yeast infection: This is likely a yeast infection which often has white patches in the mouth along with a rash in the diaper area. If you are nursing, you may also have a rash on your breast. This is best evaluated either in person, or if you cannot get your baby to the doctor via a telemedicine visit where the rash and white patches can be seen and treated. We cannot do that on this platform.

Psychiatrist: Ocd can be managed by both psychotherapy and medications.  However, medications are often necessary especially if symptoms are severe.  Patients with obsessive compulsive disorder (ocd) exhibit increased metabolic activity in the cortico-basal ganglia network in the brain compared with healthy controls.  So if medications are needed, it is best to consult with a psychiatrist (md).
