See how drug works: Linaclotide has been approved for use in constipation of unknown cause and irritable bowel syndrome with constipation. Metamucil is a stool softener with mild laxative effects. It would be better to see how Linzess, probiotics and diet with fiber work first before adding another product that could affect results.

You could but..: Just be aware that you may not absorb the medication in the way that it is meant to be absorbed (on an empty stomach), and therefore may not have the exact response you are expecting to the medication.

: I feel that gastroenterologists have more experience with this medication and can better attest to its efficacy in treating constipation in the irritable bowel syndrome. It takes lots of cases to be really familiar with a medication and its efficacy.

i have ibs constipation. i have been on linzess 145 for a couple months and it was working and now it doesnt, is that common?now passing large balls.

That’s fine: Drink lots of water. If your thyroid has not been checked recently, it might be a good idea.

You must: measure in terms of WEEKS not DAYS since you should be following a dietary intake consistent with your IBS type! Consult with your Gastroenterologist about what you should be eating. One thing I can advise...DRINK LOTS OF FLUIDS!!!!!!!!!! and start NOW!

Linzess: is the treatment of choice for IBS-D and IBS is a diagnosis of EXCLUSION In other words you need to have your colon/Rectum examined to exclude other reasons.
The chronic us of MOM is NOT a good idea!

No: The operation did not cause your constipation!  It is highly unlikely that you developed surgical adhesions post-op. If you changed your dietary habits that could have caused the constipation which is almost always dietary in nature.

Constipation: Start with 6-8 cups of water a day, increase fiber - dried beans, sweet potatoes, blackberries, apples.  Adding probiotics is never a bad thing - ordinary yogurt with live cultures will do - but try some conservative measures to treat the constipation first and your digestion is likely to improve.
