Magnesium: Magnesium salts can cause relaxation of smooth muscle, which may be worrisome in someone who's pregnant.  Your chances of having a poor outcome depend largely on the dose of epsom salt you took, and how much you absorbed.  Please ask your doctor to check to make sure you're ok.

Both are OK: I always start with dietary changes including increasing the amount of fluids she takes in: water and juices are especially good. Add prunes, apricots, raisons and fiber if she likes. Senna tabs are good and you can get these over the counter.

Others say it's safe to use during pregnancy in small doses.I advise avoiding most herbs in the first trimester.Small amounts may be ok later.
