what causes bloating during ovulation?

Progesterone : During ovulation a small cyst ruptures and releases the egg.  There is usually fluid and blood released too.  This may cause bloating and pain.  Progesterone levels rise and stay high for 2 weeks.  This leads to some of the pms symptoms like bloating, fluid retention, constipation, and others.  If the symptoms pass it is likely related to ovulation.  If not you should see you provider.

Hormonal Suppression: If these symptoms are always happening during ovulation (mid-cycle), it may be worth considering hormonal control and the prevention of ovulation using oral contraceptive/birth control pills continuously (skipping periods and only using active pills). Bloating tends to occur from the release of Progesterone that occurs when you ovulate.

Yes: Whenever you have unprotected intercourse, you are at risk for pregnancy.  Usually a urine test will not show you are pregnant until time for your next period.  If symptoms continue, see your doctor and get checked, a blood pregnancy test can be positive within a week or so of conception.

why do i get severe pain & bloating during the time i should be ovulating. it lasts about 36hrs. it hurts to walk, sit, bend. & at times debilitating?

Hormones: You have a hormonal surge when you ovulate, and apparently you have an untoward side effect from it as described by your symptoms.   Check with your gyn dr. And they may be able to help.

is it normal to retain weight in your thighs during ovulation? overall i feel like ive gained weight in the last week and im not sure why. is bloating all over, other than just your abdomen, normal during ovulation?

: Hormonal changes/ imbalance can cause fluid retention in body giving these kinds of symptoms. Best is to see your Gyn to straighten this out

Exercise pain: As you exercise there could be a loss of circulation to the intestines from a blockage. There are many other possibilities. See a doctor

Fever, constipation: Fever can cause fluid loss thru sweating that can lead to dehydration if fluid intake is poor. Bloating can come from gas-forming foods, air swallowing when eating, or infection (food poisoning, "stomach flu"). Replacing fluids is essential to prevent severe dehydration (&amp; continued constipation). If problem persists, see FP to determine cause of fever especially if fever was over 101º

i don't have ibs, yet before/during my period it seems that i do? (i have a bit of constipation and diarrhea with a little mucus and bloating)

Get evaluated.: You could have IBS, but you could have other causes of your symptoms such as inflammatory Bowel Disease, celiac disease, or Crohn's disease.  You should get in to your physician or gastroenterologist and have a complete evaluation.  Keep a diary of your symptoms and a food log as well - this may help in your evaluation.

Go see ur Family Doc: You appear to have several more complicated issues than can be addressed in 400 characters. Chronic constipation is often aggravated by inadequate fiber, fluids &amp; exercise. It can also lead to gas &amp; bloating as well as abdominal pain. Dyspareunia or painful sex needs to be addressed by Family Doc or Gyn. Perhaps complication of surgery, sexually transmitted infection, endometriosis or adhesions.
