No, not likely: The small bowel would not be a source of constipation. Also a colonoscopy does not indicate colon physiology, it only evaluates for visual abnormality of the colon mucosal lining. Colon physiology is studied by anal muscle manometry and x-ray study of colon motility with swallowed colon markers (as an example of some tests).

Easy Upper Endoscopy: Once you're sedated, a tv camera on a thin, flexible tube is inserted through your mouth, & is passed gently into your esophagus, stomach, & upper part of the small intestine.  Depending on the reason for the exam, biopsies may be taken for h.Pylori bacteria, celiac sprue, eosinophilic esophagitis, barrett's esophagus, polyps can be removed, bleeding can be controlled, & other samples collected.

Uncommon, a bunch: Need to discuss with doc before test.  Get info brochure too.
There are possible sedation/medication risks, sore throat, bleeding (if biopsy, polyp removal), perforation (rare, about 1:10, 000, unless advanced work, e.g. Forcible dilatation of tight stricture), rarely infection. Talk to md re: meds, supplements, herbals that can interfere with blood clotting, possible need to stop before the test.

No, but: It is very difficult to do with out sedation.  A sedated patient can have the endoscopy completed faster and easier. I recommmend getting sedation.

Polyps, HiatalHernia: erythema, erosions, ulcers, bleeding, scaring, strictures, some common bile duct, cystic duct, gall bladder &amp; pancreatic duct problems, varicose veins of stomach &amp; esophagus &amp; a number of other anatomic variations/abnormalities. In some cases, treat (either partially or a bit longer term) some of the issues seen during the procedure.

No: Gastroparesis is when the bowel is not moving properly.  Endoscopy visualizes the bowel wall and checks for other problems.
