The capsule is coated with med that dissolves in the 1st hrs. Generics are a tablet designed for slow release.

Concerta is a long-: Acting form of methylphenidate in a tube with an oros delivery system inside to absorb water and push medication out slowly so it will last 10-12 hrs and some immediate release methylphenidate as a coating to get the effect started. It must not be cut/crushed/chewed as that will disrupt integrity and cause all to release at once. Prescriber can adjust dose and regimen to work better. Best regards.

Quit Concerta: Concerta, like other forms of methylphenidate and the amphetamines used to treat adhd only work for the day you take the medication.  Each day is a new day.  Discontinuing Concerta can be done by not taking the next dose.  Some find that they will experience fatigue for several days following discontinuing concerta, but this should be temporary.
