Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad  like bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc.  When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts.  They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They shrink when all is well.

Cystic Hygroma?: Cystic Hygromas are congenital malformations of the lymphatic tissue. They typically occur in the neck and surrounding areas, including intrathoracic structures. If they cause obstruction to the airway or the blood vessels, they need immediate treatment. Treatment options are surgery, sclerosing agents, chemotherapy (although not malignant) or Radiation. You need to see a doctor.

No point unless Symp: Unless you're having symptoms related to the collar bone (or unexplained symptoms), there's no point to the MRI. It will only show you the ganglion cyst that you know is already there. It won't push you towards surgery, especially if you don't have symptoms, unless you've talked to a surgeon. Two answers:: 1. A cyst in bone is always surrounded by calcium, the bone itself. If the cyst is not changing, the bone will surround it and calcify the cyst.

2. Certain benign cartilage tumors of bone will have same calcium within the cyst.
