Viral throat infecti:  Here’s the deal: you should see an ear nose and throat doctor and ask them to do cultures of the blisters when they occur; that way you will know more reliably how to treat this. If herpes is present, it is often quite possible to give you the medicine necessary to kill this virus clinically, and that would be the prerogative of either your dermatologist or your your nose and throat doctor.

Herpes Simplex Virus: Yes  it can cause painful lesions inside the buccal mucosa causing the kid not to eat good.

Oral herpes?: New oral herpes infection can cause ulcers in the mouth, usually along with severe sore throat. But recurrent herpes outbreaks (cold sores) almost always are on the lips or elsewhere outside the mouth. Ulcers in the mouth usually have other causes. There's no way to know without professional evaluation. If herpes, treatment must start very soon to be successful. See a doctor ASAP.

Easy to treat: Go to a health store and ask for lysine. This is an Amino Acid and taking a regular dose prevents cold sores.

Throat infections: Don't be scared, but i would still recommend seeing your primary doctor or an ent.  They should be able to figure out what is going on.  Feel better!

See a Dentist and...: See a dentist for a diagnosis and they can work with your baby's doctor to find a solution for your cold sores which will not interfere with your nursing.  I like using coconut oil as a mouth rinse.  Swish a teaspoon of coconut oil for 5 minutes and spit out... Repeat 3 times to help clean your mouth.  While it is not high tech it is soothing and can help you to have a very clean mouth.

Yes: Any time there is oral sex being performed and there are legions (virus and or cold sores) on your female or male genitalia this can be transferred to your mouth and get on the inside.

See allergist/immuno: It appears that you may have an immune problem and recommend that you consult an allergist/immunologist. One of the conditions to be ruled out would be cyclic neutropenia in which your WBC gets very low periodically but impairment in the immune system can cause the same problem as well.

Yes: If your friend is getting worse dispite simple care it is time for the doctor visit.  If your friend is just plugging along feeling bad but not getting worse, you can probably wait.
