i woke up with a cold sensation in my head. like someone poured cold water on top of the left side of head that trickled down into my neck. what could potentially cause this? have had headaches, plugged ears and had a cold this last week?

: It may be "occipital neuralgia", where one of the sensory nerves coming out the back of the head (at the base of the skull) gets pinched or irritated, cause a variety of symptoms. This can be caused by arthritic changes in the spine, or muscle spasms caused by stress.
 I would check in with your Family Doctor, or see a neurologist if it continues.

what could cause, tingling in both arms &back, cold sensation in same areas, light headed, ringing in ears, joint weakness, & loss of vision.

Not enough info!: There are many possibilities.  It is impossible to give you an accurate guess without a lot more information, incl. how long you have felt this way, your medical history, and list of medications.  Please see a doctor ASAP to sort all this out.  This may be something simple to treat or something more serious.  Get seen and treated, to avoid the chance of feeling even worse!

i have had major congestion for about the past week. should i see a dr? it started out as just a clear runny nose at the end of a cold.  now it's more yellowish green and there is lots of pressure in my head/ears.  i've been taking sudafed, which helps on

Generally : Generally speaking, i recommend that patients see a doctor when one of two criteria are met:
1) you have a cold that is not getting better after 7 days.  Before 7 days, there's no way that a doctor can reliably tell if you have a bacterial vs viral infection.  After 7 days, the odds are that it's bacterial, so if you have other signs of infection, antibiotics may be indicated.
2) if you are sick, and as you start to get better, you suddenly worsen (i call this "double worsening").  This indicates a bacterial superinfection on top of an initial viral infection.

While sudafed can help, it can also dry out your secretions, making them hard to expel. I would recommend steam, lots of nasal saline spray, and even Mucinex (guaifenesin) to help loosen stuff up until you can get into a doctor for evaluation.

on day5 of a nasty cold. cannot breathe out of my nose at all, smell or taste! lots of pressure in head & ears. sudafed & afrin not helping. any sugg?

Cold: I would head to an urgent care center or depending on the state you reside in, attempt a consult with one of the docs for medication. Till then continue the over the counter meds, nasal wash, etc.

Difficult to say: It is difficult to speculate what may be going on with your spouse without a complete history and physical examination to determine what other signs and symptoms they may be experiencing or that can be discovered. I would recommend you start with your primary doctor. A neurology consult may also be beneficial.

Uri: Sounds like upper respiratory illness. Usually viral take Ibuprofen and oxymetazoline for three days to improve with symptoms and if worsens see you general doctor.

i have a head cold and my ears are echoing. i have tried cold and flu tablets however they are not working.

See an ENT doctor: Your symptoms are consistent with an upper respiratory viral infection involving the eustachian tube.
This tube which ventilates the middle ear appears to be clogged with mucus. Often otc meds are not effective.  I would recommend and ENT consultation if the symptoms have been present for more than 2-3 weeks.

i have a tolerable hissing sensation in my head. 
i thought it was in my ear but closing my ears, the hissing sound was still there.

Tinnitus: Ringing in your ear is called "tinnitus". It can be caused by many different things but most commonly by damage to your ear by high freq sound and excessive loud noise exposure. Initially it is reversible but can worsen with time and become permanent or lead to full blown hearing loss. It is important to go see your primary care doctor to help diagnose the cause.

can a regular virus or head cold cause a rumbling sound in the ears?

It may...: If you have an upper respiratory tract infection the congestion in the upper airways can invade the ears and you may perceive certain sounds due to the accumulated fluid.
