Dose based treatment: Iv clindamysin is usually given for severe, often life threatening infections, whereas oral clinda is given for more commonplace infections.  Worse infections are typically treated with higher doses of antibiotics.

: This would be unusual treatment. It likely would work, but it usually isn't necessary to treat cellulitis for more than 10-14 days, and clindamycin carries higher risk of potentially serious side effects than more usual antibiotics, such as cephalexin (Keflex) or sulfa-trimethoprim (Bactrim). But depending on the speciific cause, clindamycin may be the best choice. Discuss with the doctor.

Not good for UTI: Clindamycin is not normally used for urinary tract infections and will not work against most UTI bacteria. Check back with your doctor -- and don&#x27;t try to treat yourself with clindamycin or any other antibiotic you might have around.

Not recommended: Clindamycin would probably work for a sinus infection, but it is best to take antibiotics under the direction of a doctor. Many docs have moved away from using clindamycin because of the real side effects associated with it, including C diff. I would first try other therapies for the sinusitis, and only take antibiotics as a last resort. Indeed, those are our national recommendations for treatment

NO: Clindamycin is not active against chlamydia.  Use tetracycline, Doxycycline or azithromycin.

Get a proper Dx 1st: About 60%  of sore throats are viral & require no meds. If you take old meds every time you feel ill, you increase the creation of superbugs in our world with minimal benefit to you. Strep can be verified with a quick test & treatment with penicillin is 100% effective.

my 2 (almost 3) year old has been on a high dosage of clindamycin for 2 months and has now busted her ear drum. is it safe to give her ibueprofen, too?

Yes: It would not interfere with the other med or be too much for the body to handle.
