how can i clear my sinuses without a neti pot?

Aerosol saline spray: There are several aerosol brands (and generics) that will give a very good rinse without the mess of a Neti Pot or the danger of pouring saline into the eustachian tube. Also no risk of infection. I believe the Neti Pot should be avoided.

could using neti pot daily cause daily episodes of lightheadendess later on in the day? my sinuses are clear & i do this to keep them clear.

Possible: Anything is possible. Why don't you stop neti pot for a week and see if lightheadedness improves or not?

i used a neti pot to clear my sinuses, but some water went into my ear. i have to fly in 3 days. can you help? will my eardrum rupture. i'm terrified

Accepted Answer

No: Your eardrum will not rupture. Don't worry - the water will clear from your ears. However, if you are still congested, the pressure changes from ascent and descent of the plane may cause brief but severe ear pain. No damage is likely. There really isn't a way to prevent this though.

have severely dry nose, sinuses,throat for a few days now, really uncomfortable. decided to use neti pot to help w/moisture, but when i blew my nose out from it, there was some clear mucous with tiny green specks, the color of algae. what is this?

Dry nose/sinus: May be allergies, sinusitis -the green specks could be infected mucus, or if lots of pollen in your area -pollen. In the age of corona consider mild coronavirus as well. Consider symptomatic treatment and try Zyrtec as well, use vasoline at tip of nose to add some moisture. If persists worsens  consider adding antibiotics . Discuss with your MD regarding corona  F/u/ w/ MD

Unlikely: It is unlikely that the neti pot used properly would cause sinuses to get worse.  It is just a way to irrigate the nose.  Problems would be if the saline you used is contaminated, or the bottle is dirty.

Neti Pot: Neti pot irrigation of the nose/sinuses with saline (salt water) is a very safe "natural" way to clean the nose.  There is little risk of harm with this technique.  

 While some people are missing specific sinuses, if would be extremely unlikely to not have any.  If you have had sinus surgery to open the sinuses, a neti pot is more effective.

Absolutely: Netti-pot usage is designed to take foreign materials out of the sinus cavity when they are not being drained adequately by normal physiologic responses.  Allergens, infected exudates, coagulated materials, etc, can be swept out and improve symptoms and illness without significant risk or cost.

: No such thing as Candida overgrowth in sinuses. Maybe on TV but nowhere else

i put 4 drop of gse +240ml water+incl salt bag

Netipot: Try using sterile water as the tap water you are shooting up the nose may have bacteria. Also make sure you are cleaning the device properly.  Also depending on how much force is used with insertion , you can be causing undue swelling.
