If you smoke one pack per day you are now at 18 pack years.  I would advise stopping smoking immediately and getting a full exam and evaluation of your lungs.

Be seen.: You should be seen by an ENT. There is an unusual infection that can cause black drainage. Of course dried blood can look pretty black too.
