i suddenly had a large protrusion of my right inner clavical with my neck bent it touches under my chin toward very close to my neck. neck up i feel it is touching my neck. all tests say its arthritis. how can arthritis so sudden or could it be some?

: Osteoarthritis would be a slow process of wear-and-tear and bony enlargement of the sternoclavicular joint. Sudden enlargement would be due to dislocation, infection, inflammation, or tumor (rare). Inflammatory arthritis would be infectious arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or others.

Need more info: There are a couple of reasons for your symptoms. Probably not a cardiac problem but a muscular or bone problem. .  See him/her again for a re exam and possibly an x-ray depending on his/her findings.. Continued pain for over a month is reason for re-evaluation

id like to know a straight answer to a question i have. my boyfriend is 27 with a small amount of arthritis in his spine. what will happen when hes 50? is it going to keep getting worse where something bad happens?

: Over time, most humans develop wear and tear arthritic degeneration, which is often not noticeable.  Mild early changes in late twenties suggest a genetic susceptibility, perhaps, but does not predict further disability.  Unless he has inflammatory arthritis, would not expect significant progression.  An exercise program from your doctor's office could help stabilize over the years.

Arthritis: If it's simply wear and tear osteoarthritis,  diet doesn't play a significant role. Some people get relief from taking glucosamine and chondroitin. If no improvement after 3 months, I don't feel that it's worthwhile continuing it.

i see many places say 30% of people with psoriasis develop psoriatic arthritis. but then when i actually read studies several large scale investigation only show 5-20% do. thats a big difference so why do many places still say 30%?

: In some cases people develop the arthritis before the skin eruptions of psoriasis actually appears. I wonder if some of the studies include these type of cases  retrospectively while other studies hadn't included them.

??: There are many types of arthritis and certainly no solution at this time sorry to say there are some treatments but generally speaking no cures

in the future perhaps a better genetic understanding may help nad i would hole out some hope for autogenous stem cell rx.
