Do the research: Current research seems to be leaning in the direction of favoring circumcision by lowering infection and cancer rates.  You should have a head to head (no pun intended) discussion with whomever would be doing the operation.  Too often the procedure is performed simply as a routine, and sometimes just to make an extra buck, i'm afraid.

Personal choice: In the US circumcision is commonplace, 80-90 %, France 30%, Australia 30%, great Britain 10% (not covered by national health insurance). There is data suggesting increased life risks of UTI &amp; STD if not &amp; I remember it being the most requested elective surgery among young enlisted men during my Navy years. If it is done at all it is easiest and heals quickest in newborns.

Trimming XS hooded skin over head of clitoris is practiced by some surgeons to increase erotic clitoral sensation. Neither procedure can be self performed.

Why Shouldn't it Be?: Analysis of all research studies regarding circumcision, conclude that there is a positive health benefit to performing the surgery.This does not consider the religous aspects. Given the health benefits, why should there be any question regarding legality.

It is known medically that circumcision reduce the incidence of urinary tract infection and penile cancer.

Old wisdom? Maybe: Will you get sick? Probably not but...........
So far anecdotal and essentially unsubstantiated evidence suggests that, probably for personal hygiene reasons, some uncircumcised men tend to develop penile cancer later in life. Evidence also suggests that partners of uncircumcised males tend to develop cervical cancer at a higher rate. So, did the ancients know something we are just finding out?

Here are some ...: Generally speaking, absorbable stitches take 10-14 days to fall off. But, it's advisable to keep the post-circ incision as clean &amp; dry as possible for 7 days and after that,  rinse &amp; dry the area as quick as possible so to enhance stitch fall-off. So, overall, 2 weeks for uncomplicated circumcision is enough, and time with patience is the best medicine now. Best wish ...

Maybe day 2, but...: Circumcision is unnecessary if normal, adequate hygiene is done. Boys are born complete, finished, and perfectly fine (except for the few unlucky ones with birth defects). Circumcisions are done for religious and cultural reasons, but the procedure does permanently change the genitals, so parents should think about it and talk about it before doing anything to their normal little boys.

Circumcision: There is now well documented evidence and studies that show circumcision helps prevent std's and certain cancers of the male genital tract. It is no longer just a social matter. Ideally, the procedure is done in the first few days of life, after 24 hours of age . If any illness or prematurity, would wait until these symptoms/conditions resolve. Otherwise, procedure requires general anesthesia.
