You can...: ... But it probably won't help you at all. This antibiotic is normally not used for dental infections, so taking it probably won't do a thing. Secondly, how do you know you have an infection? Because your tooth hurts? You may have a deep cavity, but no infection, so again it will not help. Please don't self medicate... Not exactly: Only 5% to 10% of chronic prostatitis are caused by bacterial infection. Chronic bacterial prostatitis is treated with antibiotics up to 12 weeks, even though well-designed clinical trials have failed to demonstrate their efficacy. See your urologist for evaluation and treatment.

Not a sulfa: Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone, totally unrelated to sulfonamides.

Maybe OK, but...: In men under 35 years old, most epididymitis is due to gonorrhea or chlamydia. Ciprofloxacin is not a good drug for either of them; it won't work at all against chlamydia and some gonorrhea strains are resistant. But if you have non-STD epididymitis, cipro may be the right drug. Despite the list of possible toxicity, most people have no side effects at all. Discuss w/ your doctor.

Ciprofloxacin: It is ok to take an additional dose now or wait until the morning to take the next dose. Take the entire bottle of medicine as prescribed by the physician to avoid resistance and recurrence of the infection.

She should seek emergency medical care in order to be assessed for possible complications from the medicine. Overdose symptoms may include seizures, urination problems with kidney damage, weakness, or blue lips with pale skin, heart arrhythmias have been reported. Do not delay. Get her evaluated immediately.

See a urologist: Prostatitis can be very difficult to manage and may require a different antibiotic in your case, along with sitz baths, frequent ejaculation and possibly ultrasound to determine if there is an abscess forming. See a good urologist and good luck.
