A few possibilities: Chlamydia can be carried a long time, especially in women. Two years is very long but possible. False positive results are rare, but also a possibility. Unfortunately, in most cases like this, it turns out that one or the other partner has had sex with someone else, so you'll need to have a forthright (but sensitive) discussion with your partner. He needs treatment despite his negative test.

Get retested: You need to have an additional Chlamydia test done to be certain that this STD is completely gone and you will not transmit it to a present or future sexual partner. Chlamydia in females is often "silent"and devoid of any outward symptoms for detection other than testing. It can also cause future infertility through tubal blockage if no properly treated.

: That negative test result is nearly 100% conclusive. And chlamydia rarely lasts as long as two years; the immune system usually eliminates infection within that time. Oral chlamydia is rare; and when present, typically lasts only a couple of weeks. It does not cause sore throat or any other oral symptoms.

: You should not be re-retested. Only do you have symptoms or lesions which you do not have an answer then you should see your doctor.

Yes, but...: It's very uncommon to have chlamydia that long. It's usually cleared by the immune system in a few months. No matter how long a chlamydial infection lasts, it usually doesn't cause infertility. It can happen, but probably no more often in a prolonged infection (many months) or a brief one (a few weeks). If you had chlamydia and have been treated, probably you are not infertile.
