although I do not practice chinese medicine, i refer patients to such consultants all the time.  Western medicine looks for a direct cause and effect relationship.  Chinese medicine looks for much more subtle imbalances.  I have seen impressive results with asthma, allergies, dermatitis, amongst many other conditions.  It is very helpful for a variety of chronic conditions.

Sea Horse  (hai ma): Hippocampus kelloggi has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to address impotence, skin infections, insomnia, incontinence, asthma, high cholesterol levels as well as renal and circulatory problems. It is dried in the sun after being caught. It can be purchased whole or as a powder, pill or capsule. It may be rubbed on skin lesions. It can be mixed with boiling water or drunk with rice wine.
