Cold: It depends on your symptoms and your medical history neither of which you have shared with us. Stay well hydrated, warm and rested. There are OTC meds for cough, fever, nasal congestion. If your symptoms last more than 3 days or worsen, see your doctor. In the mean time, limit your contact with others to minimize transmission.

Yes: Most people catch several viral infections ( the common cold) a year and symptoms of congestion and cough  resolve in a few days without complications however if  you  are immunosuppressed due to another medical condition, it is important to try and avoid catching viral illnesses that may interfere with your treatment or make your primary illness worse.   Frequent handwashing helps!
