Cold: Drink plenty of  fluids, gargle warm salt water, medications like tylenol, (acetaminophen) Ibuprofen and chloraseptic spray are helpful, get plenty of rest, if symptoms become severe or are not better in a week, see a doctor.

These symptoms do sound like a COVID infection. I would strongly suggest that you be tested as soon as possible. Isolate yourself from others for 10 days. Drink plenty of fluids, and seek medical attention for shortness of breath/chest pain.

Yes, possible: Tonsillitis is usually caused by bacterial infection which is contagious. Depending on which bacteria, some cases are more contagious than others. If you have had symptoms that are not going away after a few days on their own, or you develop fever, swollen glands or rash, you need to be checked yourself. You don't want to keep giving this back and forth to each other for months.
