went to urgent care yesterday i was negative for covid and step but i have bronchitis i was given meds but my chest is sore from coughing it's hard to breath without coughing feels like i can feel my heart flutter i just started the meds today is thi?

: You should take cough suppressant such as robitussin DM or mucinex DM over the counter and tylenol for chest discomfort if you do not currently take them. ER usually gives script for antibiotic +/- inhaler +/- steroid.

is it unusual to have a sore chest from coughing?

Accepted Answer

Yes: A hard cough , because the chest muscles are stretching can certainly cause soreness. Anti-inflammatories may help.

Pain: your pain sounds musculoskeletal but from out here there's no way to be sure

tw eating disorders i purged two days ago and since then have had chest pain, sore throat, shallow breathing, a dry throat/cough, and nausea, all off and on. i was thinking of waiting it out, but im not sure thats a good idea. what should i do?

: You probably have mild oropharyngoesophageal irritation from gastric juice with repeated purge. Drink some honey warm water may sooth the area. You need to be counseled for this condition. Good luck and take care.

Can be a stitch: This can be a stitich in the muscle about and  below the rib cage. You can try ice  or heat to the are. Consider it a pulled  muscle

is it normal to have chest pain and soreness after  asthma attacks and coughing ? my cough is productive and persistent . i am fatigued without fever.

It's possible: It's not uncommon to have chest pain or discomfort associated with asthma or coughing.  If your ribs/chest hurt when you push on it, it's a sign of muscle strain and may be helped with Ibuprofen.  A productive cough can be associated with bronchitis or pneumonia as well.  You should see a doctor to be examined to figure out more specifically what's going on &amp; how best to treat you.

Stop smoking to heal: Smoke causes inflammation in the bronchial tubes, increasing phlegm production. You apparently are taking an antibiotic for infected sputum.  Smoking while taking the antibiotic promotes ongoing inflammation that limits the  antibiotic's ability to kill bacteria. .The persistent cough, chest pain and blood means your bronchitis is getting worse. Stop smoking to let the bronchi heal.

hi there, i have have flu symptoms for 4 days now. i started with tickly cough and sore chest. i'm on day 4 now, my body is still quite sore, but the chest pain and coughing is not bad any more, do i need to test for covid?

ZA or USA??:  Hope you are quarantining. This could be from COVID 19 or from a number of other infections. If you don't plan to stay quarantined - would look into testing.I can’t tell where you are from. If from South Africa, contact PCM who will assess &amp; make determination about COVID 19 testing. USA – policies vary by state. State &amp; local health departments/ providers make actual testing decisions.

Hopefully not: If you have been coughing for a while, this could give you chest pain from the constant contraction of the muscles in your ribs.  Of course there are alot of reasons to have chest pain and if it continues you should go to the er or see your family doctor.
