Chest "heaviness": The only way in which this can be answered is for you to be examined, your chest auscultated with a stethoscope and possibly undergoing a chest x-ray if felt necessary by the diagnosing doctor. Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Viral bronchitis: I'm really sorry that you are having this difficulty. At the age of 70 with a severe cough and a lot of phlegm it is best that you see it physician. In the meantime drink plenty of liquids and take your ibuprofen and a cough suppressant. You are correct it's probably a virus but pneumonia after the age of 50 is a very dangerous situation.
