: Soothing warm liquids and honey are often effective in reducing hoarseness Post nasal drip mat lead to cough. Nasal saline spray may be helpful. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and fever. Stay well hydrated and rest.

In the condition he is in now, i would recommend watchful observation. If he becomes lethargic, irritable or if the cough worsens and he stops eating or drinking, have him checked by his pediatrician.
