If you were not exposed to a chemical, are sexually active, it may be a sexually transmitted infection like herpes. It would be prudent to see a doctor. If you do not have a doctor, go to the planned parenthood clinic in your area.

How bad is it?: If it is just a vulvar(outside) "burn" then hot sitz baths will alleviate the discomfort. If is vaginal (inside) then a MD needs to evaluate the area for possible Rx.

Until it heals: Itching is the first stage of the pain response from the chemical burn and tissue exfoliation.  If the itching continues beyond one week, go see a MD to have the area checked for continued healing or infection.

Allergy more likely: Whatever is causing the itching (probably an infection) made your tissue more sensitive to some ingredient in the itch cream.  Try warm sitz baths with something soothing like Aveeno oatmeal.  If no better, you need to have the infection diagnosed and treated specifically.  Good luck!

hi i have chemical burns on my vulva and vagina from using nair can you tell me what ointment or something to put on it so it can be back to normal.

Protection: IN the future - nair is not designed for delicate areas such as the vagina/ vulva - so please don't do that.
You can use a hydrocortisone cream (not ointment) and   an antibacteria cream such as bactroban (requires a prescription), and KEEP the area area CLEAN and DRY - and use antibacteria soap - NOT any lotions, vaseline, etc.  In addition, I also recommend never shaving - trimming okay.

Never: First off I advice people to never use Nair or other depilatory products on the sensitive pubic area. Now that one has the burn, it is best to protect it from other chemical irritants until it is completely healed. I would include a chlorinated pool and tight clothing to the list of irritants.

Not likely: It is not likely that using this toy would have caused any damage. More likely there was not enough lubrication and it caused from frictional irritation.

Depends: If on the skin and you have flushed off the chemical you might suffer some local complications but will not die.  If the chemical agent is potent and ingested you need to get to an emergency room immediately.  The skin if that is the only problem can be handled in the er or in your family doctor's office.

Clean it properly: Check the material safety data sheet for proper cleaning of the chemical.  Most can be cleaned with water taking care not to get any in the eyes, but some must be removed with other methods.  After that, treat it like any other burn.  Use aloe, vitamin e, antibiotic ointment, and keep it out of the sun while healing.  Sometimes, burn ointments like aquphor can be helpful.  Healing time varies.
