2 month old painless lump on upper eye lid. 2 ophthalmologists diagnosed chalazion. recently noticed eyelashes falling, 2nd ophthalmologist says there is no eyelash loss. scared that lump is sebaceous cancer but the doctors are missing it. i'm 26 yo.

Ask both eye Drs.: One can just ask both eye doctors about eyelid cancers. Eye doctors (ophthalmologists) are the specialists who can identify eyelid cancers. If both say the lump is not an eyelid cancer with a high level of certainty, then it is not an eyelid cancer, with a high degree of confidence. Of course, a patient would continue to follow-up with the eye doctor until the lump resolves over time.

Likely, but in time.: There are 3 growth cycles of an eyelash and it can take several months for them to grow back. It is normal for us to shed our eyelashes but they do so in a somewhat  staggered pattern so we don't notice it in one certain area. The chalazions can affect the health of the eyelash follicle and make lashes come out earlier or damage further procution. Prevention of chalazions is key here. Good luck!

Warm soaks to start: Chalazion is a swelling in the eyelid caused by chronic inflammation of a small oil producing gland (meibomian gland). It is usually localized as a pea-like lump and is a reaction to trapped oil secretions which may become secondarily infected. When small and without symptoms, it may disappear without treatment. If  large, it may cause blurred vision.Treatment includes warm soaks and antibiotics.

Possibly: Consider if you have not gotten an evaluation by an ophthalmologist regarding the chalazion, loss of lashes can be an indicator of malignancy that can mimic a chalazion, though the chalazion itself can cause it too.

my chalazion has a white head in it and it's starting to hurt. what can i do?

Probable stye: Chalazia are inactive and do not contain pus.  This seems like an ordinary stye.  Treat this with applications of very warm, but not hot, soaks for 4-5 minutes at a time and about 5 times per day over the closed lid.  This usually will get rid of it.  If persistent, see your ophthalmologist (not an optometrist).

i have this chalazion on my top right eyelid, it seems as if it is going to the side of my head. what should i do with it? do i keep doing compresses?

Chalzion: Yes. if it doesn't get smaller,give it a few weeks,see an eye doctor.

i have chalzions inside both eyes in botton lids. one has yellow head inside eyelid. one is draining pus. do i need antibiotics.  2 more cysts  also?

Probably yes:topical: These are usually occur when the glands that secrete oil to keep your eyes lubricated  (meiobian) glands are plugged.  If open & draining warm compresses may well manage the issue.  If there is redness, swelling, heat or you have fever you will need to see your doc.
To prevent use lid scrubs 2x/day (1 cap baby shampoo in 20 caps sterile water; with q-tip scrub along eyelashes) religiously& always!
