Yes: Cerivcal stenosis may cause headaches, neck pain or upper back pain, but upper back pain is commonly caused by arthritis or muscles (myofascial pain).  This type of pain may respond well to physical therapy, heat, anti-inflammatories, steroid injections or radiofrequency ablation (rfa) treatments.  I would recommend discussing it with your doctor. No: While long term steroids are necessary for some diagnoses such as COPD, it is NOT indicated for your situation due to many negative side side effects, such as weight gain, water retention, elevated blood sugar, bone softening, and fat redistribution. If you still have pain after the dospak, consider injections, radio frequency ablations and other techniques used by pain physicians. Good luck

At part of a pain: Control program, perhaps.  Opioids should virtually never be the sole response to chronic pain. Neuropathic pain may respond to other treatments like gabapentin, Gabitril (tiagabine) and tricyclic antidepressants in low doses. Hormonal treatment may improve pelvic pain, myomectomy stop fibroid related problems. Opioids produce physical dependency, may cause rebound pain (hyperalgesia) and addiction in some.

Insufficient data: Your post is too vague. Please repost and state who made the Dx of cervical stenosis, based on what tests. Does (S)HE think your symptoms are due to your Dx? If so, have you been referred to a surgeon? If your symptoms are so bad, why is an operation not being recommended? For symptomatic cervical stenosis only surgery is curative. Whose idea is RF ablation, yours or someone else's?

Different types: Cervical stenosis can cause neck and arm pain. In more severe cases, it may compress the spinal cord enough to produce legs and bowel/bladder problems. Surgery, if required, can be performed from the front of the neck (anterior approach) or from the back (posterior). It may require a fusion, where bone is placed to fuse several vertebra together. Your neurosurgeon can explain the risks of either.
