Discitis: With many injection you could have a disc space infection.

C reactive protein, sedimentation rate would be labs i would draw along with getting an MRI with contrast.

Get it checked: Disc problems need to checked for two reasons... extent of problem so the treatment modality can be ascertained. Secondly for any other issues complicating the disc problems.

You need to see the neurosurgeon and they may ask for the MRI to answer the two above questions. Good luck...

Tricky: I believe you think you have a disc disease at L4 and L5 interdisc spaces. This is very common. There are a variety of approaches which you could find on the internet including exercises which may strengthen the muscles around the back and give you more support and ease your pain. You : You will want to see someone in internal medicine or infectious diseases for a more complete evaluation and discussion about shingles.  Unfortunately, it can have a prolonged course.  The herpes zoster virus lives in the nerve cell bodies and can re-emerge at any time, usually years after the initial infection and in response to some form of stress.  The symptoms include nerve pain and a rash in the area of the nerve.  The rash does not cross midline since it strictly follows the nerve distribution.  The pattern of rash is called "dermatomal" in reference to the area of skin supplied by the segment of the spinal cord that contains the nerve.

Singles has been known to last for months to over a year.  Anti-virals can be helpful and you should discuss the pros and cons with your physician.

In contrast, a disk problem can produce back pain, usually somewhat centralized, buttock pain, and numbness, pain, and tingling along the nerve pathway.  The most typical pattern is called sciatica and involves symptoms down the back of thigh to the bottom of the foot.  It is worse with sitting.  There would not be an associated rash.  The symptoms follow the course of the peripheral nerve involved, rather than the dermatomal (spinal nerve) distribution of shingles.  There can be weakness and bowel or bladder issues, in which case you need to get treatment quickly.

Possibly.: Roller coasters by their very nature are fast, and move violently placing high levels of stress on the muscles and joints of the body. If you have significant degenerative disease riding a roller coaster could cause damage and lead to sore, painful back. Recommend that you speak with your physician and if needed seek out a evaluation from an orthopedic surgeon to see what their opinion is.

Aneurysm unlikely: An aneurysm would be a very unlikely cause of low back pain, especially at your age. The internet may be referring to an abdominal aortic aneurysm, which is unheard of in healthy young people. The most common cause of such pain, especially at your age, is muscle spasm and strain. But if worried, a medical exam is always warranted.

i was  recently informed that i have retrolisthesis disk displacement in my l 2, 3, 4 and 5. how bad is this injury? i was in a bad vehicle accident 6 weeks ago and i wasn't wearing a seat belt, i have never had back problems before the accident.

This : This depends on the amount, location and type of pain, numbness, weakness or other neurological problems you have and your age.  These changes are more common in older people.  I would recommend seeing a spine pain specialist for assessment and treatment.  Good luck!
