Tough: Would be tough to do if you are adult with normal body weight and normally healthy   think you would get tired sucking on 'em 1st.

Sor throat: Hello, a sore throat is likely caused by a virus. Orc meds like Acetaminophen can be used for pain. If your pain persists beyond 5-7 days, then follow up with your family doctor.

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Some people get temporary help with a couple days of throat lozenges.

Magic Mouthwash: You can get a prescription from your doctor for 'magic mouthwash' which has lidocaine.  OTC meds work OK - generally chloroseptic spray, ibuprofen, honey/tea.  Might need to be checked for infection?

OTC pain meds: Many people think in terms of a gargle but Ibuprofen is pretty good at pain relief & should help your throat. Tylenol (acetaminophen) comes in a liquid for people who's sore throat makes it hard to swallow pills.

Tips: For significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician ; get a strep throat test ; culture. Antibiotics are imperative for strep throat.  Try saltwater gargles. Mix tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. You can gargle w aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w honey ;  lemon juice helps. Meds aren't always needed.

Probably none: Most sore throats are viral and require no prescription medication. Your primary care or an urgent center may do a simple test to rule out a Strep throat.

If it is viral it: Might take as little as a couple of days or longer than a week. Rest, hydrate well with water ; stay far, far away from cigarette smoke. You can keep mucosa  moist with a humidifier. Add honey ; a small amt. Of lemon juice to chamomile tea. Slippery elm bark lozenges are another option. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day.
