Stop laxative: would not recommend another med to treat over use of a med. Best is to stop the laxatives and let your body heal. See your doctor for help with this. Can be very difficult to stop using them. Can also be very dangerous to keep using them. Please get help from your doctor. Best of luck with this difficult situation.

can ms contin (morphine) cause fluid retention, swelling & pain in my feet? and i now have swelling in knees, hands & face. hospital tests were normal.

Not that I know of: I have had many patients on ms contin but have no seen this swelling with it. If you are on actos, (pioglitazone) amlodipine, diltiazem, verapamil, nifedipine, prazosin, terazosin, or minoxidil, you can develop a swelling like this. Make sure  urine has no protein and uric acid normal. You mention blood tests are normal. If liver and kidney functions are normal, your next step is to have an ultrasound on heart.

my tsh is 7.7,i had symtopms of edema or fluid retention over my feet , face, eyelids, when tested antibody, it is negetive, and t3 and t$ was normal, and hemo levels were 8.8 hb, suddenly. what is the corelation here? tsh restored after hemo tablets?

: It is stated that significant iron deficiency anemia can interfere with TSH formation and that is what I think occurred in your case.

Yes: Fluid retention can cause swelling in any part of the body. Typically however swelling follows gravity with more swelling seen in the lower extremities.

Not likely: This does not sound like a side effect to accutane. Particularly if you have been off it for a year. I would start with your primary care doctor to evaluate you.

Need checkup: Is is just monthly? Joint swelling usually is different than body swelling which tends to affect the lower body not the face. Why not see your doc for physical exam and blood tests?

Many causes: Cirrhosis (of the liver), chronic kidney disease, congestive heart failure, hormonal influences, allergy, malabsorbtion, side effects of medications - these are major causes of fluid retention. The treatment must be tailored to the cause.

FIND THE CAUSE: Giving you a diuretic is easy. The right thing to do is to find out what's triggering your fluid retention. Please see a doctor.
