Proteinuria (Nephrop: Sounds like u have nephropathy, a kidney condition characterized by protein leaking into the urine (kidneys not able to keep it from filtering thru). There r many causes, most commonly diabetes &amp; high blood pressure (hypertension, HTN), but other causes possible (minimal change disease - MCD, Alport's syndrome, &amp;c). Thus both the pressure generated by the heart and the resistance from the arteries determine the pressure. Hormones, kidney function, blood volume (salt related), the autonomic nervous system, etc. All regulate this process and can be responsible for abnormalities of blood pressure.

It is believed to be a chemical, rather than purely a behavioral disorder. Theories on cause are endless from diet, genetics, vitamin deficiency, toxin exposure, fetus development, etc.
