: Many cancers are commoner in older people, e.g., carcinomas of Cervix, pancreas, lung, colon and breast etc. The insults that cause cancer cause damage that is cumulative. With age multiple insults add up to cause cancer.

: Types 16 and 18 are associated with cellular abnormalities which can lead to cervical cancer or vaginal cancer. Other types can also cause cancer, but less frequently progress to same. Not surprising is the fact that smokers are more likely to develop hpv related vulvar and vaginal cancers and are harder to cure.

No, not related: The typical vaginal yeast infections are fairly common, and over-the-counter medications are available. Yeast infections do not cause vaginal cancer. Regular check-ups with one's doctor are a good way to lower one's chances of getting cervical cancer and vaginal cancer. Any unusual vaginal symptoms can be evaluated by a primary care or ob-gyn doctor.
