Facial Pain: Trigeminal neuralgia is pain in a specific pattern on your face that is often described as "lightning" pain that is made worse by soft touch, chewing, etc.  There are many treatments including medication (tegretol) nerve treatments (ganglolysis) or surgery (microvascular decompression). Each treatment has its risk and benefits.

Neuritis not simple: An irritated nerve will produce symptoms of pain in the nerve area, and may cause weakness as well. Usually this term is used to specify a neurve related painful condition. However, sometimes the problem is in the brain and it only seems like it is in a nerve. Vestibular neuritis is a misnomer, the problem is usually in the inner ear. Brachial plexitis is also a neuritis.

Probably not: Unless you have contact with toxic solvents, or in contact with drugs which cause arteritis or vasculitis, it is most likely that your work has nothing to do with the eye issue, and other causes should be considered.  Have a thorough evaluation with first an ophthalmologist and later a neurologist.  If an MRI of brain shows additional lesions, this may be early ms.

Optic neuritis: Optic neuritis can be an isolated finding, but is commonly associated with ms. Ms is believed to have an autoimmune etiology. Isolated optic neuritis is caused by inflammation which may not be autoimmune in nature.

Intercostal neuritis: can be caused by pregnancy, thoracic surgery, chest wall trauma, tumors, infection (Varicella zoster / shingles) or inflammatory processes. It can be treated with NSAID's, anti-viral agents, antidepressants or anticonvulsants. Sometimes complimentary medicine techniques help (eg. acupuncture)

Probably not: Child abuse, especially the shaken baby syndrome, causes significant damage in the eye, . Mostly retinal disruption with bleeding and loss of vision.   The optic nerve is in a well protected canal and would only be damaged in these circumstances if the trauma were so great that the bones around the nerve were fractured although this would not be called optic neuritis, but just traumatic damage.

Mostly demyelinating: There are multiple possible causes. While almost always demyelinating, other causes include lyme's disease, sle, sarcoidosis, and pseudotumor cerebrii. There are an number of causes for demyelination including post-infectious (adem) and multiple sclerosis. There are also some nutritional causes. The best way to determine the cause in a healthy young woman is to see a neuro-ophthalmologist.

Optic neuritis: Optic neuritis can leave permanent visual defects.  Depending on the cuase of optic neuritis.  Optic neuritis may improve quicker with steroid use.  If optic neuritis is due to multiple sclerosis, then it has been shown that if you use steroids on the initial episode it prolongs the time of onset for other symptoms of multiple sclerosis.

i have vestibular neuritis, i read it can be caused by shingles, herpes, does it mean i have herpes inside my body? if so how can i treat it?

Vestibular neuritis: Vestibular neuritis is usually caused by a viral infection.  There are many viral infections that can cause these symptoms.  One of the virus families that cause the neuritis is of the herpes family.  Once you are infected with a Herpes virus in remains in your body for life and gets reactivated sometimes.  There is no treatment to eradicate the virus.  Treatment with an antiviral agent may help.
