Unlikely but possibl: When pts have the indication, midodrine can raise BP by increase vessel tone. At night while lying down BP goes up due to increase return. Midodrine can further increase the BP if given too close to bed and in susceptible pts, can cause a spike in BP and cause a stroke.

Midodrine: Midodrine is a vasoconstrictor typically used for patients with difficult neurally-mediated syncope or significant orthostasis .  As such, it can drive the BP up higher.  In someone with a volatile bp, such a drug could precipitate a very high BP that could  increase ones risk  for stroje.

Potentially: This stuff is used to raise blood pressure, especially in folks with orthostatic hypotension ( BP drops when they stand up) overdosing can cause severe elevation of BP and severe drop in heart rate. Those things can cause significant difficulties. It can also cause erythema multiforme, which can also be deadly. So if you have a stroke, or heart block, or deadly skin reaction...That sound awful.

Midodrine: Midodrine raises blood pressure through the arterial tree. Thus all blood vessel walls will experience higher pressure of this general elevation of BP.

Not likely: Compression pantyhose wouldn't cause blood pressure to go high, unless they were so tight as to cause significant pain, in which case BP may go up a bit while in pain.

Midodrine: this is a very rare reported side effect, which is not proven to be definitely related to midodrine.

Slow pulse is rare: More common side effects include blurred vision, cardiac awareness, headache, pounding in the ears. It is good that you are attentive to side effects. Report intolerable effects to your prescriber. Hoping you have good relief.

can midodrine cause dry mouth? i wake up in the morning with dry mouth and sometimes have it during the day. i am also in lamictal and pepcid. can any of these medications cause dry mouth and if so what can i do about this?

Yes: Both Midodrine and Lamictal can cause symptoms of dry mouth.  If it is worse in the morning, it may be that you are mouth breather at night, especially if you snore, and using a humidifier or mask on your face may help.  If caused by allergies, a steroid nasal spray is especially helpful to decrease nasal congestion.  Sip water throughout the day.  Biotene makes a moisturizing mouth spray.

would it hurt a person to take 40mgs of midodrine at 1 time?

Potentially: This stuff is used to raise blood pressure, especially in folks with orthostatic hypotension ( BP drops when they stand up) the normal dose is 10 mg 3 times a day.....So i would be afraid of trying 40 mg at once. Most folks start slowly, and do not even take 10mg at a time...Some suggest starting with 2.5 mg....So i say no to 40mg!
