Lupron is a: synthetic hormone used to treat several medical conditions in men and women.  Allergy is the immune system's over-reaction to various stimuli(antigens), and can occur with any drug, usually with very low probability.  Allergic reaction can range in severity from mild(hives) to life-threatening(anaphylaxis).

i read the drug lupron (leuprolide) can be given to make young women grow taller. will it also cause height to grow in adult women (over 35) if taken for iuis?

Accepted Answer

No: Lupron (leuprolide) is typically given to girls in cases of precocious puberty to prevent their growth plates from fusing too early, prolonging their period of growth.  Once you are past the age of normal pubertal growth, Lupron (leuprolide) has no effect on height.

can lupron cause me to lactate? my boobs have milk coming out of them i've been on lupron for 3 months

Accepted Answer

Prolactin blood test: Have your MD do a prolactin blood test to determine if it is elevated first and if it is due to a pituitary small growth.(microadenoma). There is a medication Rx for that problem if it is found to exist. If the prolactin is normal  then a trial of Lupron cessation may  be appropriate.

have appt for 2nd opinion on ruptured septated mass of unknown etiology. current options=lupron or surgery, no other testing done. can cause be found?

Surgery: If you have a complex mass that is ruptured, it poses a problem. First of all pain and or infection can results. Second of all it could be a tumor or some sort, cancerous or not cancerous. If it is endometriosis and ruptured then it can be a real problem. So most doctors would recommend a surgical diagnosis if the mass is persistent and especially if it is rupturing. Could cause long term problems.

Accepted Answer

Yes: There are reports showing that depo-lupron can decrease platelet production.  If you plan on being on it for extended periods of time than you should measure your platelets on a regular basis especially if you have other risk factors that lower platelet counts.

hi, i had a chemical pregnant at 4w 6d after icsi.i stopped lupron and cyclogest (progesterone) for 2 days in 3rd week when i found no symptoms. was this reason for m/c?

Not the reason: Miscarriages are almost from genetic abnormalities that occur during fertilization. There is nothing you could have done to prevent it. Next time though please discuss your medications with your doctor and follow the directions exactly as directed.

i've been dizzy for 13 weeks, possibly due to lupron or the covid vaccine, both given around the same time. i've ruled out neuro, ent, and gyn causes. why are no doctors more alarmed at length of dizziness when i tell them? thanks in advance?

: "Dizziness" for sustained periods of time can be caused by anemia, vestibular malfunction, or chronic fatique syndrome, among other causes, in addition to temporary inattention while operating a vehicle. A cardiologist may be better equipped to provide answers for this condition.

Terrible: Hate the drug.  It has bad side effects and very few indications in my opinion.  If it's given for endometriosis or pain, there are other treatments.  The most effective treatment of endo is surgical excision.  This can cure the disease but there are few providers capable of this procedure.  Recurrent pain after surgery needs to be addressed but Lupron (leuprolide) is not the answer.  Ther are a few indication.

Hot Flashes: By far, the most common side effect is hot flashes, because Lupron (leuprolide) causes a temporary menopause. Poor sleep resulting in emotional side effects or head ache are also common. A serious effect from long-term Lupron (leuprolide) is osteoporosis. Many of these side effects are reduced or eliminated with extra "add-back" hormones. 
Some women have no side effects at all.
