i have a dull constant uncomfortable feeling under my left rib cage feels tight yet a heavy sunken in feeling i feel as though my rib moves if i bend that way its hard to get comfortable in any position no injuries no pain w/ full stomach or breathin?

: That area is a meeting place for lower anterior ribs &amp;rib cage muscles &amp;nerves,base of the left lung,spleen,left upper abdominal muscles,splenic flexure of the colon,edge of stomach&amp;duodenum. Dull symptomatology there,in the absence of other symptoms or injury could be of minor musculoskeletal origin. Have an MD examine you. Any appropriate testing can be done depending upon the assessment.

Pain? Pressure?: Please be more specific - do you mean pressure or pain in your stomach area ? There could be several causes for this including Acid reflux, Ulcers, Hiatus hernia, asthma. You need to see your Dr for further workup

Stamach pain: Indigestion, heartburm gastritis, esophogitis. Medicines like Ibuprofen can cause this as well.

Acid inc in stomach: anxiety or stress is most likely the answer.  These conditions frequently cause one to over secrete stomach acid and also triggers involuntary muscle spasm and tightness, both of which can contribute to the feeling that you describe.  Utilizing an antacid such as Tums (calcium carbonate) or Gellusil or any other ant-acid product will help neutralize the hyper (increased) acidity, thus helping to relieve symptoms.

what might be the cause of having a tight, anxious feeling in my stomach when i awaken and sometimes in the daytime. are there any otc meds for this?

Most likely anxiety: Brief medical history suggests symptoms are related to anxiety. Before taking over the counter meds suggest talking about treatment options (especially if you have been on lorazepam long term) and ruling out other physical causes of anxiety/stomach tightness with your provider. If anxiety is the source, would recommend referral for behavioral therapy or psychiatrist for more in depth treatment.

Reflux: Most like due to over production of stomach acid or gerd.  In advanced cases ulcers can result.  Stop nsaids if taking and try otc Prilosec  or Pepcid (famotidine) .  If it continues talk to your physician.

Fluid/ gas:  Sometimes you can feel gases/ fluids in your GI tract. You might even hear noises (Borborygmus). If you are in pain that is another issue.

i am a healthy 53 yo female. every now and then i get a tight feeling in my upper stomach wall like something is pressing on it. it is not painfull.

Sounds like it is : Nothing to be really concerned about if so intermittent & no pain as long as there is no loss of weight or appetite, bowel habit changes, loss of energy, fever, chills or sweats.  Otherwise, see your physician.

Could be IBS but...: You need to get a full work up before your doctor can diagnose you with IBS. It is usually a diagnosis of exclusion when no biological cause can be found for your symptoms. Indigestion and occasional change in bowel habits are common and doesn’t mean you have IBS. You can also keep a food journal and see if certain foods tend to produce these symptoms more than others.

Not necessarily.: Early pregnancy sxs can include: no period, breast swelling ; tenderness w darkened areolas, thin, white ; milky vaginal discharge, fatigue, ^ urination frequency, constipation, bloating, heartburn, backache, cramping, headache, food cravings or aversions, ^ sense of smell, enlarged waist, feeling faint/dizzy, mood swings, ^ gas, insomnia, gagging more easily ; yawning.
