Dextromethorphan: is a medication used as a cough suppressant in various cough/cold preparations.   Allergy is the immune system's over-reaction to various stimuli(antigens), and can occur with any drug, usually with very low probability.  Allergic reaction can range in severity from mild(hives) to life-threatening(anaphylaxis).

Regular medication: If you have cold symptoms it is more important than ever to take your regularly scheduled allergy/asthma medication.    Delsym and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may be taken at the same time but if not helping, please call your doctor and discuss which part of your asthma action plan should be used.

Below: It is OK to use the albuterol if this has been Rxed by your health care provider.

Use the albuterol as directed, and if no improvement, then call or see your DR.

my 8 year old son has horrible allergies. he takes zyrtec, allergy eye drops and nasal spray. can he take delsym 12 hour for his cough? not sure if he can while taking all those antihistamines?

: I doubt cough syrup would be of any help.  I would recommend to have him see an allergist for an immunotherapy.

Constipated: At the least you will likely end up very constipated, nauseated,  and dopey.  If these side effects don't curb your sexual drive, the drug will.  If you take a load of it, it will act like heroin. Thus too much will depends on how much. Doubling the usual dose likely will not hurt you and there is no evidence that this affects fertility per se.

If you are having active thoughts of taking an overdose or harming yourself in any manner then please have a relative or friend transport you to the nearest emergency room or call 911.  You matter. Suicide is not the right option. You will find out that you have many options when you accept help. Take care.

Discontinue dextro: Although there are no real drug drug interaction between Concerta and dextromerthorphan, but if  its causing side effects please discontinue the cough medication. At times a simple antihistamine like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Loratadine helps with cough. Consult your physician always.
