"Overdose symptoms may include uneven heartbeats, shortness of breath, bluish-colored fingernails, dizziness, weakness, fainting, or seizure (convulsions)." Usually time: Most people get bradycardic (low heart rate) and low blood pressure - if not severe we just wait - if severe we may have to consider medications to increase heart rate and or blood pressure and possibly temporary pacemaker.

Probably not: Tenormin (atenolol) is a blood pressure medication available generically that has been around for a very long time. It has a lot of possible side effects but to my knowledge diabetes is not one of them.

Yes: Older beta blockers like atenolol can cause weight gain. In the studies, there was about 2-4 lb weight gain on atenolol. 

Some of the newer ones, like Carvedilol or bisoprolol are less likely to cause weight gain.

Rarely: Generally, Atenolol suppresses SVT.  In rare cases, it can affect your heart to make some types of SVT worse.
