How long since treat: Itching with scabies is largely due to allergy against the mites. After killing the mites with Permethrin you are still allergic to the dead mites embedded in your skin. It is often several weeks before itch is gone. All contacts must be treated. See a dermatologist for treatment. There may be something else, or you may need another permethrin.

Nix (permethrin) and toddler: Not an issue    the main ingredient in Nix (permethrin)  is derived from the flower chrysanthemum and is a common ingredient in a lot of household bug sprays.    As long as it dries before they come in contact with it - its NOT a problem.    To eliminate lice in furniture  - you might want to wrap it in a big tarp (like a tent) and use a bug "bomb" aerosol spray.  just air it out afterwards

With care: Permethrin acts as a neurotoxin with greater effects on cold-blooded creatures like insects, fish, reptiles than warm- blooded.  Overdoses can cause nausea, headaches, muscle weakness, excessive salivation and seizures.  It has been classified by the epa as a likely human carcinogen.  Thus, use sparingly and not around highly absorbable surfaces like any mucous membranes (nose, eyes, mouth).
