Possibly yes: Any process that leads to inflammation in the bladder may worsen symptoms in a patient with interstitial cystitis.  Even patients without interstital cystitis may experience bladder spasms that require treatment.  There are treatments that may be offered depending on a patient's individual situation.  It is imprtant to make sure that the symptoms are not due to infection.

Not unusual, curable: Sadly, not unusual Happily, curable.
Definitely see the Dr for confirmation of Dx and follow directions for treatment.They may advise this (many do) but drink real cranberry juice (not sugary mix) everyday for awhile - it really works! Take the antibiotics as directed and you should be fine. Best!

my interstitial cystitis is taking over my life. the instillations made it worse. it's like the catheter or anything touching my urethra/bladder makes it worse. i eat healthy and azo is the only thing that helps me.what can i do???

: Follow all instructions re. IC. Avoid acidic. food and drinks . Do not give up. treatment and relief is there. Suggest you see a Urologist specializing in IC at an academic medical center. Good luck

Maybe: Imipramine should help with ic symptoms. However, components of medications such as colorants find their way to the bladder and aggravate the  symptoms. Talk to your doctor.

You likely have it.: If you have the symptoms, you likely have it.  You may even have upper urinary ttract infection, and not know it.  You'd be wise to see your doctor for urinalysis and culture and other tests to find out what infection you have before it does permanent damage.

Bloody urine: Interstitial cystitis is a chronic inflammation of the lining of the bladder. The cause is not well understood (although it's most likely not an infection) and it can be difficult to treat. About a third of patients will have blood in their urine. This is not typically referred to as a "bloody discharge, " however.

how to doctors know if you have interstitial cystitis? what is the range of cost for tests? i don't have insurance but have every symptom. i am fearful of costs but want relief!

Dx of exclusion : All other possible diagnoses have to be evaluated and excluded to arrive at a diagnosis of interstitial cystitis.  There is no one test that will diagnosis it.

Not likely: I am not aware of any correlation between hpv and interstitial cystitis.
