Fracture: Varies depending on severity of fracture, displacement, age of patient, smoking status, etc.  In general, most fractures that are minimally displaced will heal in 6-8 wks.  Most displaced fractures can take longer and may not heal at all.  Surgery may be needed to approximate the ends of the bone if widely separated.

Neoprene splint: Hand therapist or md can provide.
Also avail at some pharm.

Do not remove: The cast is stabilizing the fracture to prevent it from shifting and to allow it to heal in an anatomic position. Do not remove the cast as fracture may not teal or heal in an abnormal pattern. Pain is not the issue.

No: Do not remove except when md says.  You'd lose the benefit of having it, namely stabilizing the bone in proper alignment for it to heal that way.

Yes: It usually does. Be careful with it, it takes more time out of the cast to fully heal.

Suprisingly a cast : Is often lighter than you think,  less than a pound often. But it is inconvenient at times, weight that you may not be sued to holding all the time and often the part that the cast is on is not being utilized normally. Gentle elevation while sleeping woth apilow on the chest often hels swelling which can also make th hand feel "heavy"
slings are ok but be careful that a sling is not overused.

Leave on: Cast is necessary to maintain position of fracture to allow it to heal properly do not remove the cast. Do not stick anything down inside the cast can cause infection, do not spray anything into the cast.

Best avoid: No workout unless u get go ahead from your orthopedist.

It depends: This is highly dependent on the type of fracture you had, location of the fracture and how long it had been in a cast. Most fractures are healed in 6-8 weeks, but the final decision should be made by the person most familiar with your particular situation.

Accepted Answer

Unlikely to break: It would be highly unlikely (and very unlucky) to break a wrist that is already in a cast.  It could happen, but it would be highly unusual.
