No: It's not genetic, it's not contageous, it's not dangerous.  It goes away eventually after the car ride.  There are over the counter drugs you can take to prevent it from happening.  Just be happy you didn't get it.

Scopolamine. : Ask your doctor for a scopolamine patch, this is placed behind your ear before you travel. It will help but can give you a dry mouth.

Yes: Sit in the front seat, there is less "shock" that way.  Otherwise, you can try over the counter dramamine, compazine (prochlorperazine)...As always, make sure you are well hydrated.
