ica/cca ratio is another way of assessing narrowing - would need to see actual numbers

Incomplete data: It is not necessarily the size of plaque, but the degree of obstruction it represents, the composition of the plaque (not just calcification) &amp; even more important, the stability of the plaque surface itself.  All of these are amenable to lifestyle &amp; pharmacologic intervention, so risk factor assessment &amp; management are critical to the assessment &amp; management of your plaque.  Talk to your doctor!

Stroke history?: Hi. I assume you've not had a stroke or TIA; please clarify if you have. That's what you want to prevent. Regardless of your LDL and HDL, you should be on a high dose statin. Regardless of your BP, you should be on an ACE inhibitor. You should be on some anti-platelet agent (e.g., clopidogrel). You should absolutely NOT smoke (I trust you've quit!). Good luck!

Thyroid ultrasound: You need a neck ultrasound to fully evaluate the thyroid. Possibly will need a fine needle biopsy if the complex mass is big enough. The first thing is to fully evaluate the neck with an ultrasound.

Occipital neuralgia: We call this occipital neuralgia.  Sometimes due to a condition known as arnold chiari malformation, sometimes due to disc in upper neck sometimes due to arthritis in the neck and sometimes just can't find cause, just have to treat it.  Tegretol works fairly good for this.

Bruit: A bruit is just noise. Sometimes its related to a hemodynamic abnormality but sometimes it's just turbulent flow without pathology.

Bruit: not all things that  get called bruits are pathologic. With a normal doppler probably ok. Discuss with your doc.

Bruit: For someone who is otherwise not having any signs or symptoms attributable to a carotid stenosis, a bruit noted on auscultation of your neck would be pretty much the only accepted indication for a carotid doppler ultrasound to be performed. If you have a stroke or stroke-like symptoms then a carotid doppler may be indicated as well.
