Zoloft (sertraline) side effects: 12.5mg of Zoloft (sertraline) is quite a low dose, particularly if treating anxiety.  The palpitations may be related to your underlying condition.  The best thing would be to follow up with your prescribing physician.

Adverse reaction: It sounds like you had an adverse reaction to the Zoloft, (sertraline) that being the palpitations and nervousness is listed as one of side effects of the drug and with nervousness often comes palpitations so you're not off base with that. So I would not attribute it to having a bad heart, just to the drug, especially since the palpitations stopped after you stopped the drug. Best wishes!

Yes it will: It may take a couple of weeks for your body to get adjusted to the antidepressant.  Initial symptoms Include an increase in anxiety, nausea, diarrhea and restlessness.  If you stick to your prescribed regimen those initial symptoms will go away. Good luck with your treatment and remember it may take about 4-6 weeks before you start to see changes in your mood with the antidepressant-don't give up!

Zoloft/ palpitations: At least 1 in 100 people taking Zoloft (sertraline) will experience palpitations so you could be having more on the drug. To determine the significance of the increasing palpitations, I'd contact your doctor to examine you and see if a Holter monitor is indicated ( 24 hr. continuous monitoring of one's heartbeat with a symptom log kept to correlate palpitations to actual heart rhythm when they  occur).

Heart palpitations?: Regardless, could be only muscle pain, anxiety, heartburn. However, pain in your chest with the symptoms you have described is a serious medical condition. It is always a red flag and appointment with your PCP or a cardiologist is warranted. Take care.

my body temp was 101.5 and i had sweating and heart palpitations 1.5 months after epidural steroid injection with 8 year history of zoloft (sertraline) use. is this serotonin syndrome?

No.: We doctors have a saying: "when you hear hoofbeats, don't think of zebras." in other words, common things occur much more commonly than rare things. Serotonin syndrome is rare, and typically occurs immediately after taking a drug, not 1.5 months later. The most likely cause of a fever and palpitations is a viral illness. Let your doctor examine you, to put your mind at ease.

Palpitations: Sounds like your heart is structurally sound. At 22 that would be expected. People that have taken a Beta blocker and then stop it often get palpitations. If it has been a couple of days off the medicataion many times your body will adjust and the symptoms resolve. Other causes for palpitations are stimulants, coffee, tea, soda, low magnesium and thyroid problems.
