Usually a month: If you need to go past that for holding position of the teeth, then you need a functional othopedic applliance.

Why not?: Best way to stabilize orthodontic results are retainers.  There are many different designs.  Second best is wire bonded to the tongue side of your teeth.  Discuss choices w your orthodontic specialist.

ive had braces for 3 years without extraction and it dissolved my jaw line soo much. can my jaws regrow if i dont wear retainers after removeing them? will my teeth ever go back to its orginal position?

: Braces don't "dissolve" jaw lines. Not wearing retainers will allow teeth to relapse, but will not reshape jaws. Teeth will shift, but not exactly back to your pretreatment malocclusion. Discuss your concerns with the Dentist or Orthodontist that is treating you before braces are removed. If still concerned, seek a second opinion from a qualified Orthodontic Specialist.

Midline shift: Have you had regular dental care in the time since you had your braces?  What kind of dental treatment have you had?  Do you have jaw pain or clicking in your jaw?  Do you clench or grind your teeth?  Are your teeth loose?  There are many reasons that teeth can move.  The best way to find out why your teeth have moves is by seeing a dentist  for an evaluation.

It may be fine : If your dentist has to do some minor movements you may be a good candidate for Invisalign express.  It's fairly inexpensive compared to getting new brackets put on.  Best of luck!

Our : Our normal protocol is retainer wear for the first year all the time, night time for the second year, and a few nights per week as long as you want the teeth to stay straight---usually forever.

I would think so: Were you told that you would need to wear a retainer for life?  At 24 you are done growing and things are where they are at this point.  Would ask your parent what they were told at the time or the last person who made your retainer. Or your orthodontist or dentist.

Retainer: Bone changes constantly throughout life.  As a result teeth will wander.  Ideally retainer should be worn every night.  If they feel tight when you put them in, they need to be worn more.

Yes good idea: Fibers between the teeth are elastic in nature. With braces you can close the spaces and wear retainer but you need to remove cause of spaces.

Re-evaluation: You should b e re-evaluated by the orthodontist that treated you. Please give them a call for an appointment.
