how long before i can walk on a fractured femur i have full mobility of the leg with no pain its been four weeks since a rod was put in?

Fracture healing: It depends! Was your fracture a simple or complex type and how was it fixed?  Simple fractures fixed with a rod construct can bear weight immediately and it helps them to heal. We encourage weight bearing in these cases. Complex fractures fixed with plates and screws may need much longer before walking.  There is also the question of whether you have osteoporosis or feel pain when walking.

ASK YOU RDOCTOR: Different injuries require different periods of immobilization and nonweight bearing. Generally, after 6-8 weeks of protection for a leg fracture you can begin weightbearing ina walking boot. It will take several weeks to regain normal gait patterns. You must ask your doctor.

: Please see an Orthopedic Surgeon for an x-ray of your leg. If you can't get an appointment you can go to an urgent care center for an x-ray and then follow up with the Orthopedic Surgeon if you need to get treatment.

Stress Fracture?: Sounds like you may have had a stress fracture of your lower leg.  These do take time to develop and are difficult to diagnose.  The main treatment is usually "protected weightbearing".  Hopefully your current treatment will allow for full healing.

Fracture disability: Yes, it is possible. When there is a nondisplaced fracture, there may be pain, but walking can be tolerated often with a limp. So it's important to have any fracture or potential fracture evaluated.

On average 6-8 weeks: Bone healing usually takes 6-8 weeks depending on the type of fracture.  Each person has a different healing potential depending on age and overall health.  An x-ray may be needed to be taken to see if you fracture is healed enough for you to be able to bear weight on it.  Have it evaluated.

Check for weakness: After a spine fracture the nerves can be pressed or squeezed.  Injections can often help, but sometimes you will need the nerve freed of compression surgically.  Time to be checked by a spine specialist.

i had fallen last night on my knee i was taken to the hospital the doctor said that it was not fractured or dislocted . last night i could not walk however this morning i can walk with a bit of pain but while siting r laying down i cant pick up leg?

Fall cant lift leg.: Call and tell Dr. that you cannot lift that leg.  Try sitting and kicking out with the leg. If you cannot do this you may have torn your quadriceps.  Usually hurts a lot tho.

Get an xray.: You need to be examined by a doctor, either your own doctor, an orthopedist or at an emergency room. When did this occur? The only way to tell for sure if there is a fracture, is to be examined and get an X-ray.

successful tkrs  then fractures.  left with leg that will not straighten and walk on toes of that foot.  pending hamstring "twang" any other ideas?
