Absolutely Not: Marijuana is not safe in post transplant patients as it may  interact with many of the anti rejection medications and alter their levels. Consuming marijuana will also disqualify you from getting another transplant in the future if this one fails.

Vaping is unknown: The issue with vaporizing (tobacco or marijuana) is the unknown of the ingredients.  These are not regulated solutions and have a lot of variability in what they contain.  Unless you know exactly what was put into the solution you are inhaling substances that may effect your health.  Big issue here in washington state as we just legalized marijuana but still a lot of unknowns.

Part 2: oops - hit the return key too soon. If you read my first post, here's the rest: I found reference to increased heart rate, but NOT increased BP.  I suggest you purchase an inexpensive cuff and measure your own actual BP before and after exposure. Remember that it's safe for BP to rise with exertion and stress. On a stress test, it's healthy to see BP go from 120/80 to 200/90 during exercise. OK?

No: This would not have a direct bearing on your candidacy as a donor.

Precautions: The marijuana may relax you, but may also exacerbate your problems significantly, so could be deleterious.  If not legal where you live, there is another aspect of concern.  Would explore further with your doctor, as there are many better approaches to treating anxiety and sleep disorder.

Marijuana: Marijuana has been shown to reduce anxiety and insomnia but you must also be careful because some types of marijuana in some people can actually increase anxiety. Talk to your doctor and of course work with your state dispensary to know you are getting a pure and medically reliable strain. Good luck.

Bad idea : Standard answer is that we fear anything foreign going into immunosuppressed  lungs  because of infection. We also worry about irresponsible behavior - skipping med doses and appointments, etc. However, if that is avoided, occasional use may be reasonable.

Unlikely: Unlikely, but anything is excess is harmful. And the deleterious effects of tobacco abuse increases the risk of every form of cancer in addition to suppressing the immune system. Keep the mj use to a minimum.

Absolutely it will: Smoking generates carbon monoxide and other compounds that injury the lining of blood vessels, the endothelium.  Patients with kidney transplants are already at risk for endothelial injury based on hypertension, diabetes, and immunosuppressive drugs.  The #1 cause of death and kidney loss is related to endothelial cell injury, namely heart attacks and transplant nephropathy.  Don't do it!

Accepted Answer

Best: The best way to treat ulcers is to avoid the stimulating factor.  Otherwise take lysine, vitamin k and a bcomplex vitamin.
