Avoid the combo: Phentermine interacts with tramadol to lower seizure threshold.  In other words you can have seizures with this combination.  Ibuprofen (motrin, advil) or naproxen  (aleve) is safe to take with phentermine.

Vasoconstriction: When constriction of superficial blood vessels occurs such as with exposure to cold or when taking certain medications,blood is diverted away from the periphery of the body causing coldness of nose,fingers,toes.Apparently this happens when you take the above medications.

There is risk here.: I have seen a couple of patients who developed serotinergic syndrome on the combination of a serotonin medication &amp; tramadol. 5-Hydroxytryptophan is chemical precursor to serotonin.

can i take my phentermine in the morning and xanax (alprazolam) at night?  i would never take them at the same time, but i was just wondering if this would be safe

Depends: On what you are taking the xanax (alprazolam) for.  If it is for generalized anxiety disorder, unless you are on a time-release preparation, Alprazolam is a short-acting drug and will not be working for you if you take it at night. If it is for insomnia, it is not the best medication for sleep. If it is to combat the effects of the Phentermine making you anxious, again i would consider a longer acting drug.

: Go to Drugs.com and check the interactions of these two meds and all others you may be taking,  Some will speed up the metabolism of another med and make it work less well because the blood level is lower and others will slow the drug metabolism down and make the med work better or lead to side effects for have too high of a blood level. Discuss with your Dr and be certain to enter all meds.

: Therapy with phentermine and tramadol should be monitored tightly, due to risk for serotoninergic syndrome, doses should be adjusted and treatment prioritized, both drugs with significant side effect profiles, habit forming, none a good choice as chronic meds.
