can you take sudafed ..the pseudoephedrine version and advil (ibuprofen) pm together?

Sudafed and Advil (ibuprofen): Plain Advil and Sudafed can be taken together as long as you do not have any history of serious side effects to either agent.  Take for a short period of time, 7-10 days. Advil also has a preparation for congestion.  Advil Congestion contains Ibuprofen and Phenylephrine. Phenylephrine is not to be take with Sudafed. Make sure it is regular Advil (Ibuprofen).

is it safe to take advil cold & sinus (ibuprofen + pseudoephedrine)  if you are using flonase spray? can zyrtec or allegra (fexofenadine) also be taken @  same time?

Yes it is : If you are taking ibuprophen and psedophed, you can add Flonase and if needed Allegra (fexofenadine) or zyrtec to it and it is not unsafe.

i accidentally broke an advil cold & sinus (pseudoephedrine/ibuprofen) in half w/ my tooth b4 swallowing it. it was a coated tablet. will it hurt me?

Not likely but...: drug efficacy and duration, as advertised, may be compromised.

Yes: This should not be a problem, but it is always advisable to check for interactions with your friendly pharmacist who has a computer program which is updated continuously.

i have a sinus infection. i took 400mg advil (ibuprofen) and a sudafed 5.5 hours ago and now want to go to sleep. can i take nyquil now?

Sudafed: IS A STIMULANT and should not be taken before sleep!! NYQUIL has phenylephrine which is in the SAME family as sudafed (but is less stimulating thus may be used at hour of sleep) The TWO ARE ADDITIVE thus I would wait for 8 hours between doses!!

You can: But you have to know the maximum dose you can take a day of each of these medicines and their side effect. Ibuprofen for pain has to be taken with food. Guaifenesin to loosen secretions, and pseudo Ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate) for decongestant with side effect of rapid heart rate, anxiety and increase BP temporarily.  Also consider all the precautions for pregnancy and ulcer, etc.. They don't have interactions.

took a decongestant that included 200 mg ibuprofen and 30 mg pseudoephedrine, can i also take my usual 10 mg ambien (zolpidem)?

Accepted Answer

Not recommended: Ambien (zolpidem) doesn't cause restful sleep. You can wake up groggy and tired. If you're taking ibuprofen, you must have food in your stomach in order to prevent gastritis or a stomach ache. Also since you're taking pseudoephedrine, that could keep you up all night. That's only indicated for very short term use. So taking Ambien (zolpidem) would not help if you're also taking it all together.

Yes.: There is no significant overlap in these meds if  taken at reasonable doses.

recovering from virus, used advil, (ibuprofen) sudafed nyquil.  now have bad acid reflux with gagging.  on prevacid/antacids but still gagging.  diet?  drugs?

Gagging: You should see a gastroenterologist and probably get an upper endoscopy to see what is wrong with your stomach or esophagus.

i gave my 13-year-old son 2 sudafed pills 2 hours ago and he has a fever of 102 & can i give advil along with this drug? my son has sweats, chills/fever and headache but sudafed helped his nasal congestion...can i mix advil with sudafed to help with this?

As : As long as you did not give a drug that is made up of a combination of sudafed and Ibuprofen or sudafed and naproxen, you can give your son advil (which is ibuprofen).  Just look on the sudafed box and it will tell you what the active ingredients are.  I hope he feels better soon!
