Adipex-P + Celexa (citalopram): You should avoid this combo if you can. Ssris such as Celexa (citalopram) may potentiate the pharmacologic response to sympathomimetic drugs such as Adipex-P (phentermine). You may experience jitteriness, racing thoughts, stomach cramps, dry eyes, palpitations, tremors, and restlessness. There is also a risk of  potentially serious condition known as serotonin syndrome.

MD can explain: An md might prescribe Celexa (citalopram) and adipex togther, especially if the benefits stand a cgood chance of outweighing the risks--these being an increase of adipex side-effects, such as agitation and rarely, more serious, new side effects. He/she can explain the rationale, and frequency of increased side effects, and what to look out for.

Thanks for asking!: Phentermine is a stimulant used as a weight loss supplement. There are no known drug interactions with celexa, (citalopram) an ssri antidepressant; however, it would be better to find safer, healthier ways to lose weight including eating less portions of fats & starches, consuming more fruits and veggies and engaging in regular exercise.

Polypharmacy?: Diet drugs, while they work, only provide a relatively small benefit that only lasts as long as you take them, and insurance does not pay for them. Chantix has some very serious side effects, including suicide, so i would stay away (use the more traditional patches, sprays, and pills). Celexa (citalopram) is a good drug for depression and anxiety, but can have side effects. Of these 3, this is the best choice.

Not recommended: Adipex is no longer marketed in the usa.  It increases release of norepinephrine and Dopamine from their terminals and inhibits their reuptake.  Effexor (venlafaxine) inhbits reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine.  Combining the 2 could cause confusion, increased blood pressure or heart rate, loss of coordination, restlessness, sweating, tremor, vomiting, and other serious side effects.  Please don't.

Yes..: As long as they have been prescribed by your doctor you can take them together. No interactions between the two found.

You may: But, you should understand both have stimulants and may cause confusion, irritability ang agitation.
