Fiber: Eating high fiber can leave a residue in the colon making it more difficult to see with the camera during colonoscopy. Essentially the preparation may be worse making smaller lesions easier to miss.

Lots: Lots of meds can cause constipation, either by slowing transit time, increasing water extraction from bowel, both mechs, or other.  Can include narcotics, calcium channel blockers for BP and heart conditions, calcium supp, other 
fiber stimulates bms by increasing water in the bowel, making for a bigger, bulkier, softer stool;  increases the stretch and then the contractions of the bowel.

Yes: Can take citrucel. Try to work on diet, with or without probiotics; talk with dietician.

Prilosec Interaction: Can I take my fiber supplement at the same time as I take my prilosec?
No prilosec should be take 1 hour before meals. Due to fiber binding up the drug in the stomach. Suggest 1 hour before fiber supplement or 2 hours afterward.
As always follow OTC label directions or med guidelines from your doctor included with your Prilosec from the pharmacy.

Try one.: You will have to try them and compare.  There may be theoretical advantages, but practical differences are what matters most.  Use the one you like best.

: It may be easier to the powder form of Metamucil than the pills. Generally taking a tablespoonful of Metamucil in a glass of water, in the evening would be a good routine.

Good diet you eat: You don't have to waste money on fiber like metamucel , fiber capsules , vegetables , fruits , whole wheat bread  etc   all has fiber , and is free.

Type and amt.: Can't believe how many sites get this wrong. First, you need INSOLUBLE fiber not SOLUBLE. Second, you have to like it. So... celery, kale, spinach while INSOLUBLE, are somewhat unpleasant, while corn, Mixed salad, antipasto, Grilled root vegetables (beets), Grilled cauliflower, ratatuille, much less so. Lentils, wheatberries, quinoa, other beans...depends on if I'm cooking. 30-40 gm. 9gm/cup veg.

started a fiber supplement.  noticed past few days when i have a bm its usually a lot of blood with it. not period or hemmrhoid. i take lax 3x a week?

Rectal blood: You may have internal hemorrhoids. Blood in a bm is not normal. Have your physician examine you for diagnosis  and treatment. Associated diarrhea may be due to ulcerative colitis. Polyps or other growths have to be ruled out.
